The Stain painting depicts a parched and cracked landscape. In one area of the landscape, a patch of grass has grown into a small thicket. Amidst this, a carved stone block lies partially buried under the grass. This stone block symbolizes humanity's intervention in nature.
While traveling by train and gazing out the window, I often see man-made objects lying on beautiful natural landscapes. Just as splattered ink on a white cloth evokes a certain sensation, these long-abandoned objects scattered over the land- scape evoke a similar feeling in me. They seem like blemishes human made Stain on the breath-taking beauty of nature.

Meet the Artist - Mrinmoy Karmakar

These have affected me because I am also a part of that society. These conditions at times are a result of the existence of my being within that subjective reality. It is also an oscillation between the objective reality and the subjectivity of the contextual existence.Read More
