This painting comes from a time when I was living a nomadic life, unsure of where I truly belonged. In my room, I often watched a pigeon sitting quietly, almost still, as if it too did not know its next step. That moment reflected my own state of mind—silent, waiting, and full of questions. I felt like an observer of my own life, carrying memories and emotions quietly within me. The pigeon became a mirror of that feeling, showing how memory, silence, and uncertainty can live together. This work holds that delicate balance of presence and absence.

Meet the Artist - Jayasree Ghosh
Jayasree Ghosh’s practice is shaped by her early years in Jalpaiguri, surrounded by the Teesta river and open landscapes, and her later life in Delhi with its crowded and limited green spaces. In her work, these experiences coexist. Memory returns in shifting forms, guiding thought and feeling. Her lines move like rivers and leaves, while softened traces of everyday objects hint at what is fading. Through painting, she holds these moments as both record and reflection.
