Sense Gratification offers a layered meditation on desire, instinct, and the porous boundaries between human and animal worlds. Within verdant frames, two figures meet—a ceremonial exchange unfolding beneath a crimson umbrella, echoing the tensions between ritual and intimacy. The surrounding menagerie drifts in and out of the scene, their forms shadowed, elusive, and elemental. The painting conjures a subtle dialogue: instinct grazes containment, abstraction meets memory, and nature’s presence unsettles the ordered stage. Mughal-inspired borders suggest both sanctum and threshold, hinting that gratification is never fixed, always flickering at the edge of longing and selfhood.
