Kali represents Shakti, the power of energy and creation. Near my place, Kali masks are often worn by people, showing her strong and living presence. In my paintings, I use the image of Kali as a metaphor. For me, she is not only a goddess but also a symbol of strength, transformation, and the hidden power within everyday life. By using Kali in this way, I connect tradition with my own artistic language. She becomes a bridge between the past and the present, between myth and reality. Through her image, I want to express both fear and protection, destruction and creation, and the cycles of life that continue to renew themselves.

Meet the Artist - Jayasree Ghosh
Jayasree Ghosh’s practice is shaped by her early years in Jalpaiguri, surrounded by the Teesta river and open landscapes, and her later life in Delhi with its crowded and limited green spaces. In her work, these experiences coexist. Memory returns in shifting forms, guiding thought and feeling. Her lines move like rivers and leaves, while softened traces of everyday objects hint at what is fading. Through painting, she holds these moments as both record and reflection.
