Garuda

This ceramic sculpture draws inspiration from the Garuda Purana, an ancient Hindu scripture in which Lord Vishnu entrusts Garuda, his divine mount, with the sacred knowledge of the soul’s journey after death. In the text, Garuda becomes the celestial guide who reveals the path a soul must take through realms of trials and purification, including the passage through Naraka (hell), toward its final liberation. Here, Garuda is portrayed as the steadfast protector and navigator for human souls —his wings embracing the form, his presence embodying courage and divine wisdom. The intricate symbols, from the vigilant eye to the serpent and temple bells, evoke both guardianship and spiritual awakening.
