Displaced Territory is a visual elegy to all that is being lost in the name of progress. Through the delicate language of miniature painting, this work maps a broken forest—no longer rooted in the earth, but floating in fragments. Within it, elephants, tigers, and other beings wander, not out of wildness but out of necessity. The upper part of the composition becomes a quiet battlefield: one side, the tender reach of a tree branch; the other, miniature bulldozers poised for extraction. What unfolds is not just deforestation—it is disconnection. A severing of land from its memory, and of beings from their belonging. The animals, displaced and disoriented, drift across unfamiliar territories, crossing paths with human life not to invade it, but in search of the home that no longer holds them. Alongside them, tribal communities uprooted by mining fade into the anonymity of cities, becoming migrant bodies in a world that does not recognize their origin. This painting is not a protest. It is a mourning—a way of holding space for the unseen violence of erasure, and the silent migrations unfolding all around us.
