Radhicka Ribadia
A pharmacist turned emerging artist, I currently work from my studio based in my hometown Ahmedabad in India. My genre of paintings belongs to the class of hyperrealism, an extraordinary intersection of art and reality where the artist's skills can trick the viewers into questioning reality. I am a self-taught artist and my medium of choice to bring life into painting are acrylic paints because of their versatility and the added advantage of retouching to cover up any little oopsies that may occur. But I also work with charcoal, watercolours, mixed-media and have been keen on working with whatever I have in hand ever since my childhood. My artwork explores the primal tendencies common to wildlife as well as humans and current issues faced by the wildlife and nature as a whole, whilst admiring the beauty of striking variety of patterns, colors & textures found in nature and bringing it to life on canvas. I work in hyper-realistic style and try to mimic the textures found in nature using various materials such as clay, resin, metal, etc and try to incorporate that into my paintings by adequately capturing tiny details so as to make my subject more impactful. All eyes are glow-in-dark.
