It speaks about a village named “Piplantri” in India (Rajasthan). It lays emphasis on how every culture has a tradition surrounding the birth of a child. Here, every time a girl child is born the villagers plant 111 trees to secure her future. This is the story I tried to reflect in my work.

Meet the Artist
I am Rakhee Roy. I've been a painter for the past 20 years. "Quest of Green" was my first solo exhibition in 2010. Nature has always drawn me in multiple ways, so I used it as a language in my art. Environmental calamity of any kind inspires me to paint. Women, to me, are nature, strong, resilient, and beautiful, with an innate ability to heal. My work primarily depicts women striving to transcend politics and gender. Women are generally trapped in their bodies due to fear caused by personal pressure or social rules. They are the guardians of culture and tradition. Simplicity appeals to me, and I try to depict my immediate surroundings with a touch of fantasy beauty and humour.
