My paintings aim to depict disparate socio-economic hierarchies with the singular thread of culture — quite literally. I believe that in Karnataka, the kaudhi (quilt making) culture is one activity that decimates notions of caste, class and social status, bringing womenfolk from all over villages and towns under one roof to create a work of beauty and elegance. The childhood memory of grandma’s quilt triggered these artworks from me.
